The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
I’ve had just enough time
When you hear the sound of your alarm and you check your phone and see that it is -10 Celsius you start to talk yourself out of getting out of bed. These are a few of the ways I motivate myself to get out of bed:
Turn up the music
Nothing emo or angry, something that will get you out of bed and dancing. Something to lift the mood.
Get some light
I try and go for a walk. It sounds like it doesn’t make sense because it’s so cold outside but once that fresh air and sunlight hits suddenly I’m awake. If the idea of the cold is too much to handle, try just flooding your bedroom with natural light. If your room doesn’t get enough light or if it’s still dark outside you can get yourself a natural light alarm clock.
It could be with a cup of coffee from your favourite cafe, a chapter in the book you’re reading, shower in the morning with the special soap, sun salutations. If you have a ritual that you look forward to in the morning you’ll want to get out of bed to make time for it.
Similar to everyday rituals if you have goals or social engagements they can inspire you to get out of bed.
Needless to say getting a good start to the waking up process would be a good night’s sleep. But that is not my area of expertise.
