Tonight I saw Love’s Labour’s Lost as part of Shakespeare in the Park. I think this is a pretty amazing festival. For several weeks of the year the city puts on plays in the park which you can get free tickets for by lining up or signing up online. Someone from work stood in line. They don’t start handing out the tickets until 12:00 pm, and yet the line starts at 6:00 am. So that is a whole lot of waiting.
Love’s Labour’s Lost is not one of the plays that I am familiar with, so it was kind of a surprise to me. The play was modernised, but the story itself was still really interesting. I keep saying to myself that one day I will re-read my Shakespeare, hoping that reading it from a different perspective will give me greater appreciation of his works.
