One thing that being here has taught me is how to say no.
When people at work would ask me to jump, my response more often then not was “how high?”. But I think with all projects, you really need to sit back and ask “why?”. I think this is the stuff of Dilbert cartoons. Projects for the sake of doing work, without any regard for what the value is.
When I first got here last year I went and got a pedicure, and after each up sell, critique of my horrible feet, tax and tips I left there $150 poorer. Now I feel quite comfortable just saying no and leaving with my $30 pedicure. I will recommend Bloomie Nails for their clean, cheap and fast service. The fact that it is also on my walk home is an added bonus.
